The Research Data Centre Ruhr at the RWI allows external researchers to access various datasets collected by the RWI. Individal-, regional and firm-level data are available. Access can be gained via scientific use files (for anonymized data) or through direct access as a guest researcher. With the establishment of the RDC Ruhr, the RWI wants to follow the guidelines set out by the "Commission on the Improvement of the Informational Infrastructure between Research and Statistics" (KVI) and support the empirical research in economics and social sciences, especially in the Ruhr area.
The RDC Ruhr views itself as a service institution for internal and external data users. Providing access to data, support and data documentation, in combination with own empirical research are the main tasks of the RDC Ruhr. These tasks are supplemented with work in the area of data anonymization and web-based provision and documentation of microdata.
The RDC follows by the Criteria of the German Data Forum (RatSWD).
