The German Data Forum was praised for the significant contribution it has made since its founding in 2004 to improving the access of the scientific community to official statistics. The German Data Forum, which advises the German Federal Government and numerous scientific organizations on the strategic future development of data infrastructure in the social, economic, and behavioral sciences, was commended by the German Council of Science and Humanities as having fulfilled its advisory role in a competent manner.

Drive for a Greater Degree of Internationalization

Aside from activities related to the further improvement of national research data infrastructure, the duties of the German Data Forum (RatSWD) have been expanded by the German Council of Science and Humanities to include a stronger "frontrunner" role in advancing German interests together with international partners at the European and global levels.

"The German Data Forum is to pursue a more active strategy on the global stage and, in addition to developing a stronger international orientation in its own work, contribute to the internationalization of Research Data Centers and Data Service Centers. Within the European Union, the German Data Forum should act as an antenna for relevant infrastructure developments and effectively represent German data providers and users."
