3rd Workshop on Data Access

All statistical agencies face the dilemma of how to provide microdata access to researchers while protecting the confidentiality of data providers. Traditional access modalities have included public use files, licensing, and increasingly, Research Data Centres (RDCs). New approaches have recently emerged - notably the use of multiple imputation techniques to create public use files and new technologies for secure remote access. The Workshop on Data Access ('Nuremberg Group') aims to promote access to confidential government data for research purposes and to build an expert network to identify best practice and disseminate advice about effective management of research facilities.
