European Data Watch

European Data Watch was reorganized in January 2016 and is now published as Data Observer in the Journal of Economics and Statistics. Prof. Dr. Joachim Wagner from Lüneburg University continues to act as its editor.

Schmollers Jahrbuch - Journal of Applied Social Science Studies features the European Data Watch section which presents and discusses new data sources for empirical social scientists in research or teaching. Most of the datasets presented in this section are microdata at the level of individuals, households or firms (including linked employer-employee data sets) while some of them also cover aggregate data and metadata for regions, industries, or countries.

The aim of the European Data Watch section is to offer information on new data sources, to suggest possible research questions which could be addressed with these data, and to inform about ways of access. The contributions are written by data professionals, most of which are themselves active in collecting data or creating data sets. European Data Watch also takes a look at the rich data sets available in existing or future research data centers in Germany.
